3/6 - Arab Spring Summary Essay

ARAB SPRING:  Summary Essay  - Due Monday, 3/9

Task:  Summarize events in Tunisia, Egypt and Syria (2011-today) in a 1-2 page essay.  Use class notes and resources – no need for additional sources or research.   In your essay, consider causes of unrest, spread of protest, government response and outcome.   What are similarities and differences between these uprisings?  How are events connected?  What do you think the future holds for Tunisia, Egypt and Syria as they enter the period of the Arab Winter?

·      Prefer typed essay with standard font, margins and spacing.  Please edit your work.  Handwritten essays should be neat, written in blue or black ink and use only one side of the paper.

EXTRA CREDIT EXTENSION (can be used to replace missing or low grade)
Building on the assigned task and using either the BBC or NYT, summarize the events that took place in LIBYA from 2011-today.  How was this revolution different than the 3 we have reviewed in class?  Your summary and analysis should be 1 page in length and will be scored using the same rubric, but as a separate grade.
